Recognizing its corporate commitment to resource sustainability and zero waste and its pursuit of world-class standards for efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in business operations, the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE) honored Taiwan International Ports Corporation (TIPC) with the Bronze Award for Sustainability Action (SDG-12) at the 2025 Asia-Pacific and Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA & TSAA). The project "Reusing Excavated Soil Materials to Achieve Zero-Waste" has been recognized with an award, underscoring TIPC's successful achievement of zero-waste goals. TAISE hosted the awards ceremony and the opening of 2025 SDG Asia on September 11th. TIPC President Chin-jung Wang attended in person to accept the award and to reconfirm TIPC and its many business partners’ commitment to environmental protection, resource circulation and reuse, the careful management of land reclamation materials, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions, and transparent, honest, and innovative operations.

TIPC’s overall participation in this year’s SDG Asia forum and exposition (September 11-13th) was comfortably couched in MOTC’s theme of “Toward Net Zero, Together in Sustainability”. TIPC and Kao Ming Container Terminal Corp. (KMCT) joined forces this year to sponsor a pavilion at the exposition designed to spotlight Port of Kaohsiung’s milestones in its transformation into a world-class low-carbon, green port. Key presentations at the pavilion have focused on the high-efficiency giant double-girder gantry cranes installed by KMCT at Port of Kaohsiung’s 6th Container Terminal as well as the effectiveness of new TIPC port “green” shore power systems in raising container handling efficiencies, reducing carbon emissions, and improving port air quality. Pavilion displays and exhibits help spotlight TIPC’s proactive progress toward achieving net zero emission goals.

President Wang shared that TIPC, in close step with international sustainable development trends, is now not only in full compliance with the latest (2021) GRI universal standards for sustainability reporting but has also adopted SASB sustainability accounting and TCFD climate-related financial disclosure standards. In addition, TIPC has finished compiling its 2024 ESG Report and, in June, passed SGS certification for compliance with GRI Standards 2021 and the AA1000 Assurance Standard (v31, Type 1) moderate level.

As the principle operator of international commercial ports in Taiwan, in addition to streamlining and innovating port operations, TIPC is meeting the challenges of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions head on. In line with its responsibilities as a corporate citizen, the company continues to implement policies, measures, and infrastructures that reduce the environmental impact of port operations, protect ecosystems and the environment, promote employee welfare, and benefit society as well as core business interests. 

Looking ahead, TIPC will be working closely with all of its stakeholders to ensure Taiwan’s international commercial ports continue to excel in service and infrastructure excellence while creating the foundations for long-term sustainability.
