2022 National Travel Survey:The Public Transport Usage Rate by Attraction in Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, and Taoyuan City.
In transportation studies, trips can be classified into "home-based trips" and "non-home-based trips". The former refers to trips where either the origin or the destination is home, while the latter indicates that neither the origin nor the destination is home. Origin and destination are defined in terms of direction of the trip while production and attraction are in terms of land use associated with each trip end. Trip attraction is the non home end of home-based-trip and is the destination of a non-home-based-trip.

According to the 2022 National Travel Survey(NTS), among the aforementioned  four cities, Taoyuan City has the highest percentage of local trips where residence and attraction are the same, with 90.1%, while Taipei City has the lowest percentage at 64.8%. Considering the county of attraction, Taipei City receives 30.1% of its trips from residents of New Taipei City, while Keelung and Taoyuan City each receives 14.0% and 8.0% of its trips from both New Taipei and Taipei City residents, respectively.

The public transport usage rate for trips with Taipei City as the attraction(40.2%) is higher than that observed with Taipei City as the county of residence(37.2%). On the other hand, all of the public transport usage rate for trips with Keelung, New Taipei and Taoyuan City as the attraction(32.1%, 19.1% and 8.1%, respectively) are lower than those observed as the county of residence.
