Tourism: Moving Taiwan, the Quintessence of Asia

Taiwan has abundant impressive natural scenery with great cultural and ethnic diversity. It is well known for its traditional festivals, culinary delicacies, excellent shopping and friendly people.

To create a seamless transportation environment and foster a new “tourism miracle,” MOTC is taking steady steps to optimize Taiwan's advantages and add value. These steps include turning Taiwan into a grand “tourism nation” with sights that tourists can enjoy everywhere. To reach the goal of becoming a tourism nation, over 30 “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle” routes are in operation, and 70 Taiwan Tour Bus packages are being marketed. Since the “Time for Taiwan” marketing campaign was launched, more than 10 million foreign tourists have come to Taiwan.

In the future, under an overarching policy of diversified tourism development and market opening, MOTC will actively integrate tourism resources, including those based around local culture or industry. It will promote local travel and smart tourism and encourage eco-tourism, consoling tourism and so forth. Making the most of Taiwan's unique tourism resources and industrial advantages will stimulate local employment and bolster social stability while raising the competitiveness of Taiwan's tourism industry.
